The Black-winged Lapwing is, in general, an uncommon resident in the Dullstroom area.   The Black-winged Laping is listed as a Near-threatened bird species.   The Black-winged Lapwing has disjunct populations in North East and South Africa. In North-East Africa they are found in highland grasslands of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Eastern Sudan, Southern Kenya, and Northern
